Cherie Blenkiron 🍒 OF11.02 8:45 on Friday! HUB FOR EXTRACELLULAR VESICLE INVESTIGATIONS Engineering at UoA | Te Herenga Mātai Pūkaha Physics at the University of Auckland all combined forces to quantify EV mixtures using SERS and machine learning
SPOTTED by Kenneth W Witwer (he/him)
This is the secret HUB FOR EXTRACELLULAR VESICLE INVESTIGATIONS superhero plane that carries director Larry Chamley around the country ✈️ 🤣
The rest of us have to 🚲
Thank you to everyone from around the world who attended our little HEVI symposium yesterday. It was fantastic to see old faces Vanessa Brown and Colin Hisey and many new ones.
Great to see what the Aotearoa NZ #extracellularvesicle community has been up to over the past year.
A merging of worlds, OhioState-CBE and Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences! My primary LEGACY postdoc research advisor Eduardo Reategui, PhD giving an invited talk at the HUB FOR EXTRACELLULAR VESICLE INVESTIGATIONS symposium on circulating cancer EV technologies.
☔️ It’s a rainy old day here in Auckland but that doesn’t dampen our spirits - we’re all ready for the HEVI annual symposium.
Some great local and international invited speakers all reporting on #extracellularvesicles 🎈 🎈
Research from HEVI associate director Cherie Blenkiron alongside HEVI team member Anastasiia Artuyants 💛💙
😢 Very sad day for the HEVI Team today. Colin Hisey is heading back to the states and it’s his last day today.
He’s taught us all so much, opened our minds to bioengineering and infected us all with enthusiasm, positivity and a chill-bro attitude.
We’re pleased to be hosting our annual HEVI symposium at Grafton Campus, Auckland Uni on Wednesday 8th September 2021.
We’ll be able to share a zoom link for anyone outside of Auckland if you wish to join us. Email [email protected] to sign up.
#extracellularvesicles
It’s been a microscopy kind of week so far here in Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.
Marcella on the TEM with some melanoma EVs.
And Joni White being the first to test out EVs on the new STED microscope.
👋 We’ve been quiet. Busy, but quiet here at the HEVI.
Currently plotting for our symposium in September …. Any willing speakers for a zoom presentation? We like new, different and fun #extracellularvesicle research. 🤩
Paper out now: how do micropatterns on flask surfaces affect cell growth and #extracellularvesicle production? Tighter grooves = skinnier aligned and migrating cells = more EVs

Glowing cancer cells make glowing #extracellularvesicles !🤞 Prepping fluorescent EVs to test binding affinity to our antibody functionalised microfluidic chips. #prettyscience AMRF BCFNZ
Publication from Colin Hisey using some of our bioreactor samples. The BIG paper is nearly finished so watch this space for the preprint.
