Rwanda, United Kingdom, & Holocaust Memorial Day Trust co-hosted the first-ever joint commemoration of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi at Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office. Over 180 guests, including Diplomats, UK gov’t officials, gathered in solidarity to renew their commitment to combat genocide denial. #Kwibuka30
2023 saw tragic events which impacted on #HolocaustMemorialDay . Although we faced unprecedented challenges, a range of HMD activities were run in workplaces, prisons, schools and other settings, representing the diverse ways we mark HMD in the UK.

#OnThisDay in 1994, the massacre at Nyarubuye Catholic Church during the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda began.
On 15 and 16 April 1994, 5,000-10,000 people were murdered at the Church.
Approximately 1 million people in total were murdered during the genocide. #Kwibuka30
