Dendritic translation is long recognized in synaptic plasticity. But a key missing link was on specificity- how and what subset of mRNAs is being selected? Ezgi Hacisuleyman & Bob Darnell (@darnelr.bsky. & bob.darnell@Threads) beautifully show how eIG4G2 contributes to this. Huge amount of creativity & effort- a must read!

🤔Neuron surface proteins are covered with N-glycan types that are typically not found at the surface in other cell types. How come? To what benefit?

Glad to see this published yesterday in Cell Reports. Much of this started with a bit of a curious finding - animals lacking netrin-1, the classic guidance cue, were really bad at solving a 1h delay non-match to sample Y maze. A 🧵/1

I am super excited to present my work next Tuesday MPI for Brain Research, at 9AM EST!
The details for the zoom login are below in the flyer, and you are all welcome to join in and check what is new on the regulation of mRNA translation during LTM consolidation. Hope to see you all there! :)
Excited to share a new line of work led by Yale Interdepartmental Neuroscience Program student Paul Lee collaborating with Alexa Soares Marina Picciotto, in which we found a translational switch regulating the dual identities of synaptic organizers‼️ Yale Neuroscience Yale Psychiatry Yale Center for RNA Science and Medicine Yale Kavli Institute for Neuroscience biorxiv.org/content/10.110…
I will be presenting my work on Fish-on-Chips via Zoom on the coming Tuesday. Hosted by MPI for Brain Research, details can be found in the attached posters.
Thanks Elena Kutsarova, Eva and Alena for the very nicely designed posters!
