In the Michael Eisen / eLife - the journal saga, the most troublesome to me is the reaction of people on all sides: calls for boycotting eLife while Eisen is the editor, and then calls for boycott because he is not the editor. We all complain about cancel culture, but then eagerly participate. 1/2

My request to my fellow academics: stop with the maximalist thinking. People (and organizations) may have opinions that are different from yours. Do not yell, and do not cancel. Listen and hear instead. Please. 2/2
