Time is running out for nature.
Focus on the environment has been lost since 2016
Another year is being squandered now
The next election must bring change

At least 5 Tree Pipit on territory Dorset Wildlife Trust Wild Woodbury today. Photographed this one high up in an Oak and then realised it was ringed. Digits match the sequences I was using whilst ringing in the Autumn, lovely to have a returning bird! Dorset Bird Club birdsofpooleharbour

The Long-tailed Tits were back at sunrise.
They've been gathering feathers here for a week now.
kill sites will be visited by LTTs in a similar manner at the moment, I'm sure.
Chiffchaffs also coming regularly for feathers- post to follow.

Dogs and National Nature Reserves really don’t mix. A conservation grazing sheep that survived 2 previous dog attacks was finally killed by a third. Why do our best reserves still cater for dog owners ahead of nature and everyone else?

It's interesting to watch the behaviour of the various species visiting the Jute ball. (I've spent a lot of time at the kitchen window recently.
The Goldfinch prefers to look for pieces of thread that have been blown by the breeze into the hedge.

The Long-tailed Tits were back again yesterday, gathering nest-lining feathers.
They only produce 1 brood per yr - not surprising given the effort that goes into nest construction.
Notice how the birds balance on the unsteady bramble and carry on effortlessly with their task.

I was only able to find one example of a 'Common' Lizard despite a fair amount of searching on a sunny April afternoon.
Not a prime reptile location where I was looking but it seems to me that places where reptiles are 'locally abundant' are very much in decline.

3of4 (left) seems to be managing to get feeds, along with 1of4 and 2of4; one of which struggled with a tail this morning. 4of4's egg is showing a small dent and so may be on its way.

Just after dawn yesterday morning, it was like Wind in the Willows meets Watership Down as a baby Rabbit grazed on grass on top of the stream's bank, as a Green Woodpecker fed on Ants and Blackbirds on worms. Then an adult male Water Vole swam upstream, just ahead of me. I
