Puneeth Iyengar jci In cohort of 246 advanced NSCLC patients with liquid biopsy with ctDNA, nearly 90% of patients with tumor STK11/LKB1 variants demonstrated cancer-associated weight loss at diagnosis.

Puneeth Iyengar jci STK11/LKB1 silencing & cachexia host tissue wasting duplicated in both 1) human NSCLC in immunodeficient mice, and 2) murine CRC in immunocompetent mice.

Puneeth Iyengar jci With WES, we showed that tumor STK11/LKB1 LOF variants were associated with cachexia-inducing cell lines and not with non-cachexia inducing tumor lines.

Puneeth Iyengar jci With John Minna, we conducted an unbiased in vivo murine cachexia screen of human NSCLCs. We dichotomized tumors into 2 obvious cohorts – those that could promote muscle/adipose loss and those that could not.
