Looking forward to joining Michael Fullilove at the The Lowy Institute next week to talk about our government's plan to better align our economic and security interests, so that we can make our people the biggest beneficiaries of change in a future made here in Australia.

Today’s figures show inflation dropped to 3.6% in the year to the March quarter, down from 4.1% in the previous quarter. Annual inflation is now less than half its peak and much lower than the 6.1% we inherited at the time of the election.

New numbers just out show inflation has now almost halved since Australian Labor came to office. It’s still too high, people are still under the pump, but we’re making progress. The Budget next month will focus on easing cost of living pressures, not adding to them.

Global economic uncertainty will be a big feature of our discussions this week in Washington DC, & a big factor in the budget we hand down next month. Thanks Sarah Ferguson for this discussion from the Capitol at the start of 17 hours of meetings with global colleagues.

The world is changing & we can be major beneficiaries of that change. A Future Made in Australia is all about maximising our advantages in energy, industry, resources, skills & investment so we become an indispensable part of the net zero economy. Sarah Ferguson ABC News

New IMF figures show a remarkable improvement in Australia’s budget position under the Anthony Albanese Government. We now have the second strongest budget position in the G20, up from 14th under the previous government Katy Gallagher

Under the Anthony Albanese Government, Australia has gone from 14th to 2nd in a global ranking of budget management. We know a stronger budget is not an end in itself but the foundation on which we build everything we want to do for our people and our society Katy Gallagher
