Maybe dismantling systemic racism looks like allowing the best and the brightest to rise to the top.

Racism, colorism, and biases are an unfortunate part of practicing medicine. This week I had a patient describe her doctor (trainee) as the “dark one” while simultaneously telling me a story of how Black women have large behinds “because it’s a part of their culture.” Deep Sigh.
