Preprint “ Highly pathogenic avian influenza A (H5N1) clade 2.3.4.4b virus detected in dairy cattle”. These viruses show mutations in the attachment protein, hemagglutinin, that are important for the virus to become efficiently transmissible among people.

My take home so far from #ECCMID2024 is that if we want the environment to be taken seriously, we need to do more intervention studies with epidemiologists. The evidence around measures like ventilation still aren’t making it to the table. But such studies are really hard…
