If I understand correctly, a contact originally from Isfahan’s family member was on a Qatar airlines flight landing at Isfahan tonight when there were sounds of explosion(s) going off nearby, perhaps air defense. ok, but was extremely frightening for passengers & their relatives.

Look at the region today. Has the US security guarantee for Israel led to more stability and safety? I’d argue it’s enabled their reckless and risky policies. Not only shouldn’t the US give similar guarantees to UAE and Saudi, we should make support for Israel more conditional.

96 House Democrats voted to ban the government from purchasing data from data brokers that they would otherwise need a warrant to obtain (e.g., location data).

Should be all of them.

If I were an Ivy League president I would simply not sic riot police on scores of nonviolent student protesters in a bid to impress Elise Stefanik. Elise Stefanik will never be impressed. Have some dignity.

52-46: Senate voted against repealing the EPA's tailpipe emissions rule for cars and small trucks. 60 votes were needed. Democrats Brown, Manchin, Tester and Sinema-I joined all Republicans in voting Yes.

Excellent framing from the same paper that's tried to convince us for the last decades that it's a Crisis of Free Speech when a 20-year-old talks over Charles Murray

Columbia should not be calling the cops on its own students for engaging in nonviolent protest.

The university has a long history of respecting free speech on campus, and I support the faculty who are pleading with their administration to continue that tradition.

And somehow this qualifies as safer for higher education Columbia University than kids sitting in tents on the grass of their own institution in protest.

I was wondering how my zip code could possibly be pricier than the real Back Bay zip code of 02116, and it's because of One Dalton. That checks. bostonglobe.com/2024/04/18/bus…

So are the free speech warriors going to defend Columbia students? Or is it only a problem when some war criminal or eugenicist gets denied an opportunity to speak?

Believing that liberation is possible for everyone as opposed to at the expense of others or through the literal expulsion/elimination of others is ironically a divisive take today, so orgs like Standing Together will by definition be hated by those who see the world otherwise.

Congratulations
Zero Fare Worcester! Another year of fare!

Thank you the WRTA board for a unanimous vote and to the new Administrator for his support of zero fare.

Look forward to service improvements and connectivity that will make the WRTA what it needs to be.

Some Israei journalists and scholars were posting photos of Palestinians at the beach in Gaza today to show that there isn’t genocide and that there’s no longer a war being waged. This is the level of discourse and dehumanization.

The more Jewish orgs tie themselves to Israel's authoritarian right, the more they'll misuse antisemitism accusations, which will result in them being more excluded from the left, which will lead to less of a voice on antisemitism on the left, which will increase antisemitism.
