We've always had SEL in schools. It was called recess, play, & classes like Music, Art, Physical Education. But they have been reduced or removed to spend more time on testing, & then we wonder why students lack social/ emotional skills & misbehavior that comes with lack of it.

This goes overlooked and definitely isn’t taught in high schools. The US made a choice of empathy rather than power; post WW2. Truman never emotionally recovered after the decision to use the bombs. This empathy still exists in almost all Americans, which is being weaponized now
