Came across this lonely stone, earlier. It's been there for millennia. It's up there now in the dark, on those moors, pointing at the stars.

Amidst the clamour of the human world, the tree world just gets on with it - quietly dignified, rooted in earth colours whilst grieving for autumn's lost leaves.

Up in the high mountains of the Carneddau today getting lashed by wind & rain.Heavens it’s wild! Heading into those clouds to find the lonely moor on Bera Mawr where Prince Dafydd apGruffydd hid in 1283 from Edward I’s men before being ‘basely betrayed’ by Einion Bishop of Bangor

Every morning I run my hand over this beautiful C13th fragment of sepulchral slab built into the stair tower at Gwydir. Brought from the Cistercian abbey at Maenan when demolished during the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII. Every stone has a story to tell.

We put another owl box up a few weeks ago and already we've seen tawny owls scoping it out. So few places for them to nest now; they need all the help they can get. Hopefully, chicks in March/April.

As we near the end of the season, it's a good moment to say a huge thank you to Dave Paddy (aka Paddy!) for helping us in our task to keep the old house open & running smoothly. He's a great support, a great friend & so much a part of Gwydir.

House/Gardens open until end of Oct.

That’s given the peacocks a bit of a shock. They weren’t expecting to see us up on the roof (on their patch) cleaning the leads.

A wonderful day, lots of fun and Gwydir worked its magic. All is quiet now as the great house sleeps. Thank you Judy, Peter and Paddy for looking after us so well.

Several big tours, 30 cream teas and a lot of tea cups later and we’ve arrived at this point in the evening. A great day filled with fabulous people. Thank you for everyone’s positive feedback and great support today.
