Eastman was the first woman to serve on NY State’s Commission on Employers’ Liability and Causes of Industrial Accidents, Unemployment, and Lack of Farm Labor. She co-authored the initial version of the ERA in 1923.

I’m still digesting the referendum process. But I have two initial hopes. First, I hope that this result will put care and disability issues higher up the policy agenda to deliver concrete legal change for care & PwD. That doesn’t require a constitutional amendment.

Maybe more voters would have turned out to vote yes for real change as proposed by the Citizens' Assembly rather than the confusing watered-down version that the Govt put on the ballot?
