τοῦ σπαθιοῦ τὴν τρομερή,
σὲ γνωρίζω ἀπὸ τὴν ὄψι,
ποὺ μὲ βία μετράει τὴν γῆ.

Ἀπ’ τὰ κόκκαλα βγαλμένη
τῶν Ἑλλήνων τὰ ἱερά,
καὶ σὰν πρῶτα ἀνδρειωμένη,

The Dafne Ewer. Free-blown glass, cold painted and gilded. Opaque white, red, grey, gold. H. 22.2 cm. Shoulder diam 9.5 cm. From a tomb at Kerch (ancient Panticapaeum). Probably made in Antioch, Syria. Roman. Middle Imperial. ca. 175-225 AD. The Corning Museum Of Glass. New York.
