Care too much about what other people think of you?

“Our fear of other people’s opinions has become an irrational and unproductive obsession in the modern world, and its negative effects reach far beyond performance.” hbr.org/2019/05/how-to…

The research shows employees value two distinct types of respect. Owed respect: accorded equally to all members of a group/org, signalled by civility & every member is inherently valuable. Earned respect: recognises individual employees who display valued qualities or behaviors.

Public service announcement: You don't have a moral obligation to finish every book you start.

Stopping doesn't mean you lack grit. It means you have the wisdom to let go of sunk costs.

Reading is for entertainment and education. If it doesn’t bring joy or insight, move on.

A few people have asked me for a transcript of the speech I gave recently about Curriculum for Wales.

Here it is, with a few useful sources linked in.

An important post here about the very real and practical problems with vague curriculums.

Vagueness is often the political solution to hard problems. But it doesn't solve them - it just creates more problems down the line.

“In difficult moments we are susceptible to all-or-nothing behaviours. We tell ourselves that because we’re not operating at 100% we should give up. Perfectionism triggers,& we catastrophise, throwing out the whole book, instead of seeing this as one brief chapter of challenges.”

You will never find one answer to what makes you happy. There are many answers, and they change based on your current state.

People need to relax, but if all you do is sit on the beach, it gets old. People find meaning in work, but if all you do is work, it gets exhausting.…

Really great EEF webinar on their revised Implementation Guidance Report. Refreshing emphasis on the *social*, *human* and *contextual* elements of change. Yes provide structure, but it must be flexible and dynamic. Thank you Staffordshire Research School @ John Taylor and Nikki Arkinstall!

We're in a situation where guests on my podcast are authors of books that I'd be reading anyway.

Utter madness.

Introverts want a quiet life. No drama. No games. No stress. Just peace and good vibes. Doing their thing. Chilling & vibing. Sitting on the porch, deep conversations with a loved one, sipping tea, and watching the sun go down in silence. A simple life. That's all they want.

Tremendously intelligent and talented woman right here! Huge congratulations, Kay 👏🏻

It’s been a complete joy to work with Kay (although we now know we should never be left together to travel in lifts or find our way to unfamiliar places 😂🤪).
