Yet again, an honourable and hugely able man (Sir Alex Allan) finds it necessary to resign whilst Ministers fail to meet normal standards of behaviour and remain in post. What does this say about current standards of government?

Philip Rutnam, Mark Sedwill, Richard Heaton, Jonathan Slater and now Jonathan Jones. All immensely able and honourable top public servants. Their departures are deeply, deeply worrying.
