⛓️ In the EU, it matters how products are made!

Ambassadors just confirmed the Corporate sustainability due diligence directive ( #CSDDD )!

💚 It fosters sustainable & responsible corporate behaviour, anchors human rights & environmental considerations for companies' operations.

The negotiations on the GSP review collapsed. The file has been attributed with two impossible demands: obliging beneficiary countries to readmit their nationals and automatic safeguards for rice imports. There was no political ownership to strike a deal in the Parliament.

🛑 Member states say no to products made with forced labour!

🇪🇺 Ambassadors just confirmed the provisional agreement found in record time between EU Council & European Parliament.

This regulation will prohibit products made with forced labour from being placed on the EU market.

The EFTA-India FTA provides a good glimpse into what India is prepared to accept on Trade and Sustainable Development. Substantively, some interesting commitments to respect & implement core labour conventions & environmental treaties. No third party dispute settlement, though.

EU Council & European Parliament provisionally agree on a regulation prohibiting in the 🇪🇺 market products made under forced labour.

🛑 Around the world 27 million people are victim of forced labour. This deal aims at banning products made under these unacceptable conditions.
