KEG President Zubeidah Kananu said the partnership with AATF Africa is a constructive engagement for journalists and scientists to be better equipped for effective outreach and knowledge that responds to the needs of farmers.

Dr. Canisius Kanangire AATF Africa emphasized the role of journalists in the smooth transfer of agricultural information from the researchers into the hands of those who need it most - the smallholder farmers.

Dr. Canisius Kanangire, Executive Director AATF Africa announced that a curriculum to train journalists on science and agriculture journalism is being developed and is expected to be launched in Malawi during the annual Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) forum.

KEG CEO Rosalia Omungo said the partnership would immediately embark on capacity building for both scientists and editors to bring innovation closer to smallholder farmers.

The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) and the Kenya Editors' Guild have formed a partnership to bridge the information gap between researchers and farmers across Africa. The MoU signing ceremony was held earlier today at the AATF Africa offices in Nairobi.

The session aims at enhancing the understanding of journalists on pre publication due diligence, defamation laws and journalistic sources in Kenya, and their legal rights and obligations.
