I love this idea from James. Got me thinking, especially with the news that Sandleford warren from 'Watership Down' is set to be built on: why is it that we often protect famous writers' houses but not the landscapes they drew inspiration from?

Promised myself if I woke up early I’d go to the forest to listen to the birds. Woke up at 4.30am, so off I went...

Southerly winds have brought some colourful migrant birds to our shores so I've painted a few that are showing up right now. (Hoopoe, Golden Oriole etc. And as for the Wallcreepers, well, one can hope!)

Among the Cuckoo flowers this morning as a brief bit of sunshine lit up the dew.

First St George’s mushroom of the season!

Not long now until the woods turn green again. I hope we get another morning like this one from last year. The fog was so thick it felt like the trees and I had been submerged, and Bluebells bloomed from the riverbed.

Keep thinking about this poem today.

Went for a little explore yesterday - felt a little like I'd strayed into a mythical beast's burrow.
