We want to give a big shout out to all the fungal taxonomists out there! They are taking on the daunting task of describing the fungal kingdom.

Of the estimated 2 million (or more!) fungi, only 150,000 have been described 🔬🧫

Happy #LeapDay ☘, we have delved into the Fungarium to find our earliest leap day specimen! This shrivelled and unassuming specimen is actually a Tremella foliacea collected in 1872. It was collected from Snowdonia National Park, and even features some spore illustration 🔬🏔
