“I am a Holocaust survivor. I experienced as a child every single thing a Gazan child is experiencing on a daily basis. There’s no excuse 4 the slaughter of 15K children. I am proud to be here with you.”

Austin friends, you do in fact have contested races on your ballot right now — TCAD Board — and your vote will impact the future of our public services and schools.

Here’s your cheat sheet:
Place 1: Jett Hanna
Place 2: Shenghao “Daniel” Wang
Place 3: Dick Lavine

Republicans aim to stack Travis County's critical Appraisal District Board with partisan figures like Matt Mackowiak, Don Zimmerman and Bill May.

May 4th's special election is crucial; we must prevent GOP activists from politicizing the board & jeopardizing school funding.

Would like to see a breakdown of which agencies are making all these no-probable-cause arrests. Will officers/troopers be held accountable for violating people's 1A rights/freedom w/o cause?

Public officials don’t get to forcefully suppress the voices of people they disagree with.

The First Amendment guarantees people in Texas and across the nation the right to protest, including those who advocate for Palestinian human rights.

Hope everyone stops talking shit about us Texans because, as I’ve said before, we are in the belly of the beast and we fight hard. Proud of these students and all of those here who continue.

A spokesperson for Texas DPS said troopers responded to the UT campus “at the direction of Governor Greg Abbott.”

The agency confirms law enforcement took at least 20 people into custody.

'I'm with the media,' he says, as he's being arrested. 'I'm sorry ... They were pushing, so I tripped, and I almost fell --'

The officer escorting him says, 'I wasn't there to see it.'

Others around them start to shout, saying, 'He's press! What are y'all doing?'

Nice try but this isn’t about antisemitism. This is about a war that students oppose and their right to gather & protest it.
These are our kids, Governor. Stop trying to bait them to serve your political ambitions.

UT Dallas students held a peaceful sit-in. Their university president agreed to meet with them. They dispersed peacefully.

At UT Austin, protestors are being met with force and arrested. Interesting tactic Jay Hartzell.

First thing many of us in TX think about when we see a lot of state troopers these days are the nearly 100 of them that stood by and let children die at an elem school because they were too scared to do anything about a single shooter. It's fucking cosplay. Shame on UT Austin

The freedom to protest is integral to our democracy.

UT Austin students have a First Amendment right to freely express their political opinions — without threats of arrest and violence.

If you or someone you know needs legal support, call the Austin Lawyers Guild: 512-817-4254

This move should alarm anyone dedicated to upholding democratic integrity. Actions that undermine voter rights threaten the very foundation of our democratic system.
