It is the position of the American Society of Anesthesiologists that mandatory periop DNR suspension is paternalistic. And it's frankly inappropriate in MANY situations. I can do anesthesia with a DNR in place. (Maybe not a DNI, but we can discuss.) I support patient autonomy.
