ERCOT is setting all kinds of renewable energy records today, but price spreads and lower than forecasted solar indicate that we would have much more (~6GW) if we had the transmission to move more of this super cheap power from West Texas to loads in the middle of the state.

Our corrupt Attorney General, Ken Paxton, just settled a felony fraud case.

As part of the deal to avoid jail time, he has to take 15 hours of legal ethics education.

Something is wrong when the state’s top lawyer is forced to take a class on how to be a good lawyer.

A new study shows state congressional seats could look like:

• CA: -4
• NY: -3
• IL: -2
• MN/PA: -1
• AZ/GA/NC: +1
• FL: +3
• TX: +4

Today is a dark day in Texas history.

The Texas Senate just voted to acquit corrupt Attorney General Ken Paxton on 16 separate articles of impeachment.

I’ll keep fighting for the Texas we deserve.

For the fourth day in a row, the Texas grid operator is asking people to conserve how much energy they use this afternoon and evening.

Intense heat is driving up electricity demand, and ERCOT is concerned wind and solar power production could be low.

Most Texans believe cold weather in February 2021 shut down natural gas power plants and froze wind turbines, triggering one of the state's deadliest blackouts. But the true cause was corporate greed, according to a growing number of lawsuits filed across the country.

A note on records: ERCOT's official records are hourly averages, so the new official record will be 83,854MW breaking the one set last Tuesday.
But Max Kanter @ Grid Status records them in 5 min increments; that was 84,029MW today at 4:55CT. Either way, new record set today.
