Through August 2023, the Prosecutor’s Office has maintained a 94% conviction rate on murder cases and an 89% conviction rate for the most serious of sex crime offenses. The murder conviction rates continue to rise from 84% in 2021 and 86% in 2022.

Today, our office volunteered Christamore House, assisting with their Senior Programming & Diaper Bank cleanup. They also helped set up for activities, serve lunch, & most importantly connected with the community. Thank you Christamore House for allowing us to share time with you.

Recently, Travis Lang was convicted for his role in the 2021 shooting death of Dylan McGinnis. Lang was found guilty of Murder, Felony Murder, Attempted Murder, two counts of Robbery and Carrying a Handgun without a License. Read more: tinyurl.com/45mas38a

This week, prosecutors obtained guilty verdicts in three separate homicide cases. Tavon Macklin, Travis Lang, and Gaylyn Morris were convicted of charges including Murder, Voluntary Manslaughter, among others.

Prosecutor Mears and staff attended the Pathway Resource Center, Inc. Annual Far Eastside Community Peace Walk on Saturday. Prosecutor Mears spoke about the importance of coming together to stand up against gun violence and thank those in the community for their ongoing leadership to combat it.

Since its launch in 2019, our Good Faith Initiative has assisted hundreds of non-custodial parents with driver’s license reinstatement services. In honor of #ChildSupportAwareness Month, we shed a light on this program designed to offer financial support to families in need.

Today, we held a Second Chance Workshop Horizon House Indy with NCLegalClinic. They were able to assist residents with driver’s license and expungement services!
