This was the first time a high-resolution multi-proxy approach including soil micromorphology, lipid biomarkers, and compound-specific stable isotope analysis, was applied to an archaeological context in the Canary Islands.

She also participates in several projects, ranging from late Pleistocene contexts to Canary Island's aboriginal societies! Her first article investigated combustion features and fuel sources in the highest-altitude cave archaeological site in the Canary Islands (Tenerife, Spain).

On #FridayMotivation we'd like to introduce our lab members! Today is #phdcandidate Laura Tomé's turn, who works in applying microcontextual techniques, such as soil micromorphology and lipid biomarker analysis, to investigate domestic spaces during the Iberian Iron Age 🔬

This will be the first time these techniques are combined within a single site to explore climate change on the scale of human behaviour!

In her current Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften Leopoldina funded project, she is combining faunal isotope data with lipid biomarkers to investigate climatic preferences of Neanderthal site occupation patterns at La Ferrassie, France.
