Excellent study showing for TBI patients that doing things right is more important then being quick. pCO2 at 🏥 arrival was strongly correlated with outcome, but due to poor correlation between ETCO2 and pCO2 we often don’t seem to get it right prehospital. Time for PH ABGA 💉?

Late breaking at #CCR23 : In the PATCH-Trauma trial involving adults with major trauma, treatment with tranexamic acid did not result in a greater number of patients surviving with a favorable functional outcome at 6 months than placebo. nej.md/43zNuMj

UK-REBOA results:

REBOA increased mortality at 90 days and at all interim time points.

REBOA increased deaths due to bleeding at 3 hours and 90 days.

REBOA substantially delayed time to definitive haemorrhage control.

PATCH Trial Results (prehospital TXA - AUS/NZ/DE):

- Same improvement in mortality as in previous trauma studies.

- No difference in GOS-E %(dead or severe disability) at 6 mos.

- No difference in thrombosis rates.
