Regional anesthesia was popular during the 1950s because GA agents were either flammable or produced hypoxia. In 1956, Adriani made a (24 item) list of precautions to consider when performing regional blocks. Number 7 (image) is related to inadvertent IV injection of LA.

In 2020, 53,804 anesthesiologists were practicing, with an average age of 52.6 years.

Plus, a whopping 45% were over 55.

We should normalize (& encourage) healthcare workers to take a day off tor mental health, especially when there is a bad outcome. Compartmentalizing and moving on does not help the healthcare worker or their other patients.

Its easy to advocate for an embryo/fetus - it’s an abstract being that doesn’t complain and doesn’t need material support. Much more difficult to do the right thing for expectant mothers and actual living children b/c they talk back and help requires real money

In this country, an embryo has more rights than living women & children. This has always been about control, and we will not give in.

A mentor once told me, “I’m proud of you for saying no.”

We respect each other to this day.
