Kendall says 'hidden unemployment' caused by ill-health takes real joblessness rate to 20% in some places.

UE statistics mean low UE can be falsely celebrated whilst millions are too ill to work.

It's sensible to discuss the statistics together more

Excellent The Health Foundation analysis of the UK's stalling life expectancy

⬇️People born in 2020 are now expected to live four fewer years than 2010 projections.
❤️‍🩹 The stagnation in life expectancy was clear well before the pandemic
⚖️ Inequalities in life expectancy are widening

Good to see but some of these also blocked planning Gove's planning reforms

🏠Temporary accom and children's care placements are some of the council's highest costs. ⬇️supply = ⬆️costs

Councils need more funding, better allocated, but also legalisation to reduce costs

'at the heart of this issue are questions of what local government should be for: is it a mechanism for delivering an ever-narrower range of services? Or is it there to shape, preserve and champion an area and its people?'

'The most deprived fifth of areas receive, on average, 9% less local government funding (£92 per person) than their share of needs'

Institute for Fiscal Studies evidence shows the clear need for funding reform, given the current inequities
