All true, but residents already work 60-80+ hrs/week + time studying at home. Why are we also expected to spend unpaid hours on evenings and non-call weekends to learn complex stats/research methods? Mandating publication for every resident promotes bad research

Of the long list of things that nurses do every shift to improve patient care, this one in particular saves so many lives.

As a type 1 diabetic on an insulin pump and an anesthesia resident, simple put, we need to do better managing glucose for type 1 in hospital. In ICU and periop, we cannot use the same protocols that were developed for type 2 diabetes and expect success.

This narrative review was a huge undertaking, but am so glad that it has served as a useful resource to so many studies looking to advance our knowledge further about the impact of diabetes on thermoregulation.

Glad to be a part of a specialty that was an early adopter of this paradigm. Doing things because “that’s how we’ve always done it” is not good enough anymore.
