Our Junior Road Safety Team Cantref Primary School had a productive morning educating our community about the benefits of 20mph limits. We spoke to 12 drivers, who were all in excess of 20mph! Thanks to Mon Road Safety and Gwent Police for working with us.

Using the 'Dutch Reach' when exiting a vehicle is an easy way to ensure that you don’t throw the door wide open without checking your blind spot or retaining door control.

Please use the technique and tell your friends and family about it as well.

Do you use the 'Dutch Reach' method when exiting a vehicle?

By using your opposite hand to pull the door handle, you can turn your body to check behind.

You'll be able to make sure there are no oncoming cyclists, motorcyclists or any other road users before opening the door.
