FYI in this session I'll provide access to the Google sheets where we do our calculations and walk people through how to use them....or at least as much as I can do in 2 hours.

Starting now, so join soon if you'd like the info from the start of the session. We don't record...

If you're interested in excess mortality in Canada and our recent efforts to:

1) compare Canadian excess mortality to other countries

2) identify excess mortality potentially due to healthcare system overload

We'll discuss at 8 ET tonight during our weekly Data Discussion

I think this is an interesting thread, in that it displays uncertainty used in one direction

It is TRUE that the estimates of Long COVID incidence are uncertain (as I noted in my article, the highest estimates are ~20%!)

However, this uncertainty runs in BOTH DIRECTIONS

Let's talk about the RSV vaccine for seniors (that no one seems to know about). Efficacy against symptomatic disease is >82% for 1st season, dropping to ~67% in 2nd season. But protection against severe disease drops from 94% in 1st season vs 79% 2nd season. Very high numbers.

As expected, inflation fell in October. A lot. From 3.8% in September to 3.1% in October. And monthly, adjusted for seasonality, prices were lower in October than Sept. www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quoti…

I'll unpack some more patterns here 🧵

Something scary happens when people no longer feel they can convince or engage the other side; when they feel the other side is a moral lost cause and there isn't any space of possible agreement between your minimum position and their maximum, or your maximum and their minimum
