#ScotGovPIDraftGuidanceConsultationResponse
'I never read it, But I'm sure these children have symptoms of underachievement, lateness, and poor attendance'
This was a member of staff... why did they even bother?
#CalumsLaw
#PIGuidanceConsultationResponse
Again, a worrying mindset from staff
'schools are at the mercy of abusive children and parents and have no adequate protection to allow them to maintain discipline and protection for the majority of pupils within the classroom.'
#CalumsLaw
#PIGuidanceConsultationResponse
'allow discipline to be maintained within a classroom. Abusive behaviour of children is not adequately dealt within the current guidelines and protection is prioritised to the abuser rather than the other parties involved.

ScotGov PI Guidance consultation
Response from a teacher
'seclusion may be the most appropriate action'
'no funding to tackle the underlying causes of the inappropriate behaviour, such as counselling, therapy, behaviour and learning support'
#CalumsLaw
There's a recurring theme here from the staff responses to ScotGov's PI Draft Guidance Consultation
TIME
'Are we being given time?'
'There's no time'
'We don't have time'
Part of Calums Law is calling for Mandatory Training and SUPPORT for staff
#CalumsLaw
Teachers response to PI Draft guidance consultation
'cannot be carried out realistically in the conditions in which we work'
and
'it affects every one of us and means major changes if this were to go through.'
That's exactly the point, major change IS needed
#CalumsLaw
Another staffs view of the ScotGov PI guidance consultation
'As it is non- statutory, schools may not implement the required changes in practice'
We KNOW this.
If they don't HAVE to do it
They will NOT do it
THANKYOU for your honesty
#CalumsLaw
More staff response to PI guidance consultation
'Please provide some information on what rights the staff have'
Again... no concern for the children physically and emotionally harmed daily in places where they should be cared for!
#CalumsLaw
More staff responses to PI Draft guidance consultation
'Realistically, class teachers do not have the time, resources and training to implement this policy'
Without a LAW, our children will continue to be unsafe in schools because staff will refuse to follow it
#CalumsLaw
PI Consultation response
'teachers take the role as guardians and as such must have the same authority to deal with them to the minimum legal standard'
We have the anti-smacking law in Scotland.
PARENTS cannot physically punish their child neither should teachers!
#CalumsLaw
Mindsets like this response to ScotGov PI Draft Guidance consultation makes me sad...
'staff are exhausted by the efforts and pressures of keeping violent children in education'
Its this attitude that perpetuates the punitive culture schools are famous for 🙁
#CalumsLaw
Another 'individual' who responded to the ScotGov PI Guidance Consultation thinks that we must
'have looser restraints on how teachers can maintain discipline'
Also...
'teacher's disciplining pupils by either raised voice or time out should be considered first'
#CalumsLaw
Another response to ScotGov Consultation on the PI Draft Guidance
'In my experience, some staff do not understand their actions are forcing compliance'
The MOST COMMON reason for using restraint & seclusion is that the child refused to comply.
Is that not punishment?

Staff members response to ScotGov Consultation on Physical Intervention Guidance in schools where he/she says there should be
'Real PUNISHMENT for OFFENDERS'
Our children are DISABLED, Not Criminals and they are NOT 'Offenders'
#CalumsLaw
Another ScotGov response to their Physical Intervention Guidance.
'Its 50 pages long, I AINT reading that'
'call the (redacted text) Police!'
Imagine this person was teaching YOUR child!
Protect children IN LAW.

ScotGov response to their draft Physical intervention guidance.
Does this explain WHY we have a problem?
An ASN teacher said.
'I don't want to write up a long report'
'we should be allowed to call the Police if children are out of hand'
