“Cellphone” will display 350+ objects ranging from the first commercial cellular phone to undersea cables. It will also present an array of 📱-related objects that have emerged to express identity and culture including clothing, a fantasy coffin, and 📱cases designed by artists.

Is it a landscape painting? Look again.

This is a piece of petrified wood from Arizona, where silica-rich groundwater permeated the wood with fine-grained quartz. Impurities in the quartz (like iron and carbon) produced colors in the petrified wood, now in our Smithsonian NMNH.
