As faculty and staff we have a moral obligation to stand up against genocide and stand with our students. UK settings may be a little different, but we too should support our students in their actions and push for divestment from arms dealers.

The assault on Rafah is another utterly despicable war crime.

As bombs rain down on a trapped and terrified population, we implore our government to find an ounce of humanity and end its complicity in this senseless massacre.

Wake up. This is not war. This is genocide.

No more universities, students and staff decimated, cultural heritage and libraries specifically targeted - now banning a reporting outlet on the eve of an assault, actively preventing this from being known and recorded in history.

Still so many of us librarians are silent.

We will never forgive or forget the academics who chose to remain politically neutral while their students and colleagues were being suspended and arrested for organizing and speaking out against genocide.

Apparently a lot of academics need to be reminded that ‘neutrality,’ ‘staying out of it,’ ‘it’s complicated,’ ‘both sides are wrong,’ ‘we shouldn’t politicise things,’ etc etc means you’re absolutely taking a side. At least own it.
