The coleoptile is a cool little tructure that protects the first corn leaf and ‘spikes’ through the soil surface. Once its job is done, it peels back and lets the leaf out. Can you see the leaf rolled up inside this coleoptile?

These guys had sprouted by the 16th but then got a nice rain, but then had to pause for a 4 day cool down. Since then, the radicle has grown and the coleoptile has started its journey to the top! Should see these guys in another 5 days or!
