4 years and 3 Taoiseachs in - this bleak record keeps growing.

The Minister for Housing is refusing to answer my questions about affordable housing.

Instead he sends out the Junior Minister for Nature and Heritage to read an irrelevant pre-prepared script.

He’s showing total contempt for a generation locked out of housing.

Today we launched our campaign for the end of exploitation and delays for craft apprentices.

We know apprentices in their first year are paid as little as €5 an hour in non-union employments.

This situation must end, apprentices should not be used as cheap labour.

Apprentices in key construction trades can earn as little as €7.17 an hour.

Nowhere near the minimum wage and less than half the living wage.

We cannot build our way out of the housing crisis without skilled workers - they must be paid properly.

Illegal rent increases are taking place all over the country but the Government is taking no action.

We cannot expect renters to police these regulations when doing so could risk eviction.

The Government needs to step up and enforce its own laws.

The Housing Commission estimates that Ireland’s housing deficit from pent-up demand is as high as 256,000 homes.

Meanwhile the govt continues to fail to meet its own inadequate social and affordable housing targets.

24,000 people are now experiencing hidden homelessness in Ireland.

People are sleeping in cars, on couches and in offices.

That's nearly 38,000 people now homeless including those living in hostels.

We urgently need a ban on no-fault evictions.
