As it looks toward the largest industrial buildup since the Cold War, the US is torn between short & long-term needs.

Should the US buy more 155mm artillery ammo or double down on future weapons?

Here are 4 factors that will influence the buildup of 🇺🇸 defense industry (🧵)

At this minute - 20 years ago - Estonia 🇪🇪 joined the EU 🇪🇺. I will just remind that Estonian GDP at the time in 2004 was 12 billion USD. In the end of 2023 it was 42 billion. Average monthly salary in 2004 was 466 EUR and it was nearly 2000 EUR by the end of 2023.

The ink isn't even dry on the supplemental bill yet, but the US is preparing to announce $6 billion in arms contracts for as early as tomorrow, according to POLITICO´s sources. That's speed of relevance! That´s commitment! politi.co/3Uj6pYn

This is a moment to celebrate. BUT it is also imp to recognize that 6m delay has had a signif neg impact on🇺🇦. A lesson: aid to 🇺🇦 needs to become more predictable. Multi-year commitments are required. 🇪🇪 has already committed 0.25% GDP for 4 years to 🇺🇦. nytimes.com/2024/04/23/us/…

Agree with Speaker Mike Johnson: history judges us for what we do. Hope Congress will do the right thing.

Ukraine needs our help now.

If you look away, it will cost more. Security and prosperity in Europe and the U.S. are tied. Giving Ukraine aid saves American jobs and tax dollars.

The US, UK, France, & Jordan helped shoot down Iranian drones & missiles. No such help for Ukraine. The least the US Congress can do is stop the excuses and vote the funds so Ukraine can better defend itself. washingtonpost.com/world/2024/04/…

Russia is leading a and unprovoked war. Ukraine needs help. If you look away, it will eventually become costlier.
