Concluding our tour here y'day - 1,114 imm Griffon Vultures passing by this perplexed adult (pic) crossing The #Straits over our heads alongside Short-toed and Booted Eagles, 17 late Black Kites and White Storks. We also spotted a roosting imm Rüppell's Vulture😊 #FlywayBirding

This #MigratoryPioneer Olive-backed Pipit (found by David Cuenca) is an unusual but welcome visitor here in #TheStraits - inhabiting the magical ornithological gold-mine of the Parque Princesa Sofía in La Línea

We also found our own pioneer Yellow-browed Warblers (x3) today !

In The #Straits right now is the epic “youth dispersal” of Griffon Vultures - over 10,000 will pass into #Africa , onto the #Sahel

With our guests we delighted in locating the 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 at the #Salinas today.

Normally it makes lengthy migrations btwn N. American tundra breeding grounds to the coastal wetlands and grasslands in S. America.

On our #BirdingTwoContinents tour we were
in the realms of #Owls with the rapidly declining Moroccan Marsh Owl (due to export agriculture) coming to roost and a stunning respectful close up with a Maghreb Wood Owl. Despite tragic forest fires Barbary Macaques continue to survive!

In the #Rif mountains in #Morocco on our #BirdingTwoContinents tour we delighted in our encounters with Moussier’s Redstarts, Blue Rock Thrushes, Black Wheatears, Levaillant’s Green Woodpecker, Black-crowned Tchagra and this gorgeous #Maghreb Wood Owl!

Yesterday we concluded the #African leg of our #BirdingTwoContinents tour for guests from Naturetrek one of the last #Birds we got views of was this stunning Black-crowned #Tchagra 😊

On the sea Long-finned Pilot Whales as Balearic & Cory’s Shearwaters cruised by & over the boat European Honey Buzzards, Short-toed Eagle & Marsh Harrier crossed !
