Finally en route to Vesuvius 22 and really excited to hear a day of fantastic-looking papers, and to share some of my research on the scientific imagination and on Charlotte Murchison, whose work ‘reformed the Geological Society, and afterwards the world’!
Vesuvius 22 Bodleian Libraries Elisa Cozzi Every exhibition should have some humour; so I was amused to re-unite Isaac Jamineau, Consul to Naples 1753-1779 with Sir William Hamilton, Ambassador to Naples, 1764-1800 in this display. By all accounts the two men didn't get on, though both shared a keen interest in #Vesuvius .
Vesuvius 22 Bodleian Libraries Elisa Cozzi It was great fun to assemble this display with Elisa Cozzi and the magnificent Bodleian Libraries exhibitions team, to mark the 1822 eruption of Vesuvius. Vesuvius 22
