On Sunday 12 May, 2.30-5.30, we’re opening our latest nature recovery project as part of Old Headington National Garden Scheme. We bought Larkins Lane in 2022 and our volunteers are working hard to restore a rare valley fen: tinyurl.com/4wvt34tc

Green Winged Orchid at Oxford Preservation Trust field Harcourt. First I’ve seen it here. Hard to believe this calcareous grassland was arable not too long ago. Prime land for unaffordable houses for the very rich so 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 OPT for buying & protecting it
If it’s the city you want to explore, we have lots of different self-guided walks to try along heritage routes, Oxford’s waterways and off the beaten track. Take a look: tinyurl.com/3964f8m7

It’s bluebell season! Our favourites this year are at Abraham Wood, Boar’s Hill. They grow here in abundance thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, clearing the ground to let the sunlight in. Thanks also to Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment for their support.

May Day celebrations in Oxford are very special. Today we gave our lucky members the best view in the house – from the top of Magdalen Tower. Join OPT, support our work and enjoy special events like this one: bit.ly/48ZV8l9

My favourite OPT place by Emma: “The sun streaming down in the tranquil Elizabeth Daryush Memorial Garden. Surrounded by trees, this magical place is my solace early on a Sunday morning”

What a thrill to talk about ‘Shakespeare’s Arabic Sonnets’ in Oxford’s Painted Room, where Shakespeare may have stayed (and, er, collaborated with the landlady to produce William Davenant). Quite something to be lecturing under this 16thC inscription. Thanks, Oxford Preservation Trust!
Where do sonnets come from? At our special event in the Painted Room, Dr Robert Stagg will give us a fresh history of the sonnet surrounded by stunningly preserved wall paintings. Come along tomorrow, Thursday 25 April, at 5.30pm: bit.ly/43jZt10
The Oxford Imps wonderful comedy improv in “Shakespearean” verse on the subject of cordwainers. (No pre-warning: they didn’t know beforehand these were craftsmen in Cordoba leather). Audience very much amused: Bard spinning in his grave!
We celebrated Shakespeare’s birthday in Oxford yesterday. The The Oxford Imps performed at Oxford Castle & Prison and the town crier marked the occasion before medieval musicians led the procession through the streets to OPT’s Painted Room – where Shakespeare stayed👉 oxfordpreservation.org.uk
Happy birthday, William Shakespeare! Fun to join this morning’s Oxford Preservation Trust celebrations in the Painted Room on Cornmarket, Oxford, where Shakespeare may have stayed (and sired William Davenant) when travelling between Stratford-upon-Avon and London. 🎁
At last! I finally made it to the beautiful Painted Room, Oxford Preservation Trust ‘s C16th jewel, to join their birthday celebration of its most famous visitor, William Shakespeare. OPT has been preserving and enhancing our great city for nearly 100 years - long may they continue!
Celebrating Oxford Preservation Trust at Oxford Castle (where Henry III regulated us High Sheriffs in the 1258 Provisions of Oxford) with the City Sheriff, County Council Chairman, University Bedels and Abingdon’s Town Crier - quite a range of uniforms!

Hear ye! Yesterday we celebrated one of Oxford’s silliest (new) traditions: a procession of town and town to a painted room above Betfred where Shakespeare was believed to have stayed, to celebrate the Bard’s birth (and death) day. Thank you Oxford Preservation Trust for all that you do!
