So excited to be part of the coalition. Together with groups across the UK we'll be out Saturday 30 September to demand that people's safety takes priority on our roads. To organise in your area, visit safestreetsnow.co.uk

Broken down on the pavement? The sticker says ‘Children on Board’ which is lucky because there’s no room for them outside

NEW: we need to talk about the dire state of British transport infrastructure.

Of the 52 UK cities with 250k+ people, only 8 (15%) have a tram or metro.

In France & Germany it’s 80%, Poland is on 60%.

Even *American* cities are better served, and the US hates public transit!

John Burn-Murdoch Of course central London is off the scale (92% non-car), but the others are respectable:
Manchester 61%
Leeds 53%
Birmingham 58%
Bristol 59%
Newcastle 59%
Liverpool 65%
Sheffield 54%
Nottingham 58%

There's nothing wrong with buses, you just need to stop cars slowing them down.

Great to see that one of their vehicles smashing into a school hasn't stopped Land Rover using the strapline 'Unstoppable 4x4 Vehicles' on their website. Real classy.

Well this is all a bit odd isn't it? First of all if this happened at a demonstration then why did none of the demonstrators take issue with the people who spray painted their van front, back and both sides? must have taken a few minutes that, I'm also🔽

Ed Halford Oxford Mail The car? It’s often just a hugely inefficient and costly way to move a single human. The bicycle is much more efficient. youtube.com/watch?v=fv38J7… and when it’s safe people cycle. Needs connected protected infrastructure Oxfordshire Cycling Network

The PM's review of 'anti-car' schemes goes against government policy of supporting LTNs and 20mph zones in England.

This puts benefits such as clean air and improved public health at risk.

We say NO U-turn on cycle-friendly interventions!
