Scientists from the Météo-France IVORI project have been on rotation at CHARS to monitor the evolution of the snowpack. The purpose of the IVORI measurement campaign is to observe the seasonal evolution of snow microstructure in the Arctic using X-ray tomography. Pretty 'cool'!

Today is National Indigenous Languages Day! Indigenous languages are fundamental to Indigenous identities, cultures, spirituality, and self-determination. In Nunavut, many Inuit have Inuktut as their mother tongue. Nunavut’s official languages are Inuktitut, English, and French.

POLAR collaborates with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) scientists to measure contaminants in the air in Cambridge Bay under the Northern Contaminants Program. Our POLAR Field Technicians go out on the land to verify the equipment and take the measurements!

POLAR partners with Natural Resources Canada and their Polar Continental Shelf Program to confidently and safely allow scientists to conduct field research across the Canadian Arctic. Pictured is the 100% electric Taiga Motors snowmobile being tested in the Arctic climate!

In February 2024, students from the ULaval architecture program visited CHARS to host community driven workshops on preliminary designs and co-create versions of infrastructure related to greenhouses which would be functional within the community and in the Arctic.
