Sligo Creek Parkway from Three Oaks to Wayne Ave is closed due to flooding. Additionally, the parking lot of Meadowbrook Local Park is closed due to flood water.

The region is currently under numerous National Weather Service watches and warnings. Have a plan should you need to escape the weather.  In the event of a tornado go to a safe shelter immediately, such as a basement, storm cellar or a small interior room on the lowest level of a sturdy building.

Montgomery County Schools are back in session today! Pay extra attention for kids walking to school and remember, you MUST stop for school buses when the red lights are flashing! If stopped by an officer, the fine for passing a stopped school bus is $570 and 3 points!

Beach Drive is closed between Cedar Lane and Franklin St due to a downed tree. We will advise when the road is open.

The tree has been removed and Beach Drive is back open

Reminder: In mid-September, Montgomery Parks will close portions of Sligo Creek Parkway for MTA Purple Line construction beginning with Schuyler Road to Wayne Avenue. The parkway will close in phases with each closure lasting about two months. More info: mocoparks.org/4ckQsrE

We hope everyone had a great Labor Day Weekend. Our officers and horses had a fantastic time at the Town of Kensington Labor Day Parade.

We have arrested a suspect in relation to an indecent exposure that occurred along the Sligo Creek Trail. Our detectives would like to hear from anyone who may have more information.

Beach Drive from Knowles to Wexford is closed for emergency spot spot patching. The closure is expected to last until this afternoon.

At 9:47am we responded to the 5300 block of Willard Ave for a burglary at a vacant home located on park property. A subject was found inside armed with a knife, he has barricaded himself inside the building. Montgomery County Department of Police is on scene assisting. More information will be forthcoming

Media staging area is in the north side parking lot of 5555 Wisconsin Ave.

The subject has been taken into custody without any injuries to himself or officers. More information will be released when it becomes available.
