A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is now in effect for Cook & DuPage counties until 4:45 pm. 60mph wind gusts and heavy downpouts are possible with this storm cell.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for LaSalle and DeKalb counties until 1am. Strong storms are approaching the area. Stay tuned to NBC 5; we'll bring you the latest severe weather bulletins as they come in.

Numerous thunderstorm watches and warnings to the west as a cold front approaches. Storms will be arriving in the area in the next 90 minutes. The latest on the forecast is coming up on the NBC 5 News at 10.

Non-severe thunderstorm cell is producing gusty winds and heavy downpours in Evanston into the Rogers Park neighborhood.

Heavy rain with gusty winds continue in LaPorte county, but the storms have dropped below severe limits at this time. No warnings are in effect.

Thunderstorms are firing in Iowa and Minnesota along a cold front that will sweep through the area later this evening. Front is capable of producing supercells with strong winds, hail and isolated tornadoes.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now been posted for LaPorte county until 1am EDT.

Towns in the path include Indian Hill, Davis and Union Center.

A second cell is also under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 6:30pm EDT. This storm is moving NE at 20 mph and is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail.

Storm is moving NE at 25 mph. Towns in the path include Oregon, Kankakee and North Liberty.

The NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern LaPorte county in NW Indiana until 6:30pm EDT. 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail are possible with this storm.

NWS has canceled all remaining warnings in the area. However, the storms still active are producing gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. I'll have the latest on the storms coming up on the NBC 5 News at 5.

NWS continues Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northern Will county until 4:45pm. All other active warnings have expired, though rain continues in the area.

Thunderstorm activity has diminished in northern DuPage and Cook counties and continues to be isolated in nature.

The Severe THunderstorm Warning has now been expanded to include all of Kendall county and Northern Will county until 4:45pm. Storm cells are capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and small hail as well as heavy rain and frequent lightning.

Storm in souther Will and Cook counties is not severe but continues to intensify. Heavy rain and frequent lightning are occurring at this time.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning continues until 4pm for parts of Kane, Dekalb, Kendall and Will counties. Storm is producing gusty winds, small hail, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

The NWS has canceled the warning for southern Cook county. The storm has weakened below severe storm thresholds. Heavy rain and lightning are still occurring with this cell. The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Kane and DeKalb counties continues until 4pm.

Storm is capable of producing wind gusts in excess of 60 mph, nickel-sized hail, heavy rain and frequent lightning. If you are in the path of this storm, take cover now!
