Numerous thunderstorm watches and warnings to the west as a cold front approaches. Storms will be arriving in the area in the next 90 minutes. The latest on the forecast is coming up on the NBC 5 News at 10.
Thunderstorms are firing in Iowa and Minnesota along a cold front that will sweep through the area later this evening. Front is capable of producing supercells with strong winds, hail and isolated tornadoes.
A second cell is also under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 6:30pm EDT. This storm is moving NE at 20 mph and is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail.
The NWS has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for southern LaPorte county in NW Indiana until 6:30pm EDT. 60 mph wind gusts and quarter sized hail are possible with this storm.
NWS has canceled all remaining warnings in the area. However, the storms still active are producing gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning. I'll have the latest on the storms coming up on the NBC 5 News at 5.
NWS continues Severe Thunderstorm Warning for northern Will county until 4:45pm. All other active warnings have expired, though rain continues in the area.
The Severe THunderstorm Warning has now been expanded to include all of Kendall county and Northern Will county until 4:45pm. Storm cells are capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and small hail as well as heavy rain and frequent lightning.

The NWS has canceled the warning for southern Cook county. The storm has weakened below severe storm thresholds. Heavy rain and lightning are still occurring with this cell. The Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of Kane and DeKalb counties continues until 4pm.
