SCRUM SHAPE FOR KIDS

Teaching boys & girls aged between 10-15 years old the perfect scrum shape will help them in their late teens and seniors rugby.

A low flat back will transfer into tackling and rucking!

Be safe, train smart…

How effective is this for hamstring & glute activation, neural rehabilitation and gait control?

CLEAN OUT DRILL:

Call a colour cone, find it and then win races to clean out using the shortest route.

Start slow to work on technique before doing it full pace. A Great drill for post training.

Try it.

A simple 1 v 1 defence tracking drill from a scrum attack. No. 8 picks and the opposition flanker/no. 8 breaks off and makes the tackle.

Rule #1 Scrum first
Rule #2 Break fast
Rule #3 Keep body in front
Rule #4 Low dominant tackle

SCRUM TO 1️⃣ O’CLOCK DRILL

Retain your scrum muscle memory with this easy configuration, using heavy bands, barbells and a squat rack working towards 1 o’clock.

I’m not recreating real scrum tension, it’s more a body shape, core and warmup drill. If you know you know! 😉…

PROPS - TRAP ACTIVATION

Training shoulder elevation with full shoulder flexion is similar to a Loosehead or Tighthead’s bind.

Rugby props heavily contract their upper traps in a scrum. Although the example here are lightweight, you can increase it over time.

One of many ways…

POWER SESSIONS

A feel good session near the end of the week to sharpen you up just before your final pitch session.

So many options, however they are generally a full-body session in 1 hour.

Train like a pro, become a pro!
