3/3 #Aukus Pillar 1 shares nuclear-powered submarine technology between US, UK, Australia. Under NZ law, nuclear-armed submarines cannot enter NZ ports. Will next step be pressure to weaken the 1987 nuclear-free legislation. Transparency badly needed around govt intentions.

2/3 NZ is being drawn towards #Aukus Pillar 2 arrangement without transparency about potential costs in defence spending & in loss of trade when the AUKUS partnership is aimed at NZ’s major trading partner for which no replacement is readily apparent.

NZ has had a consistent policy of condemning the military coup in Myanmar, and urging the restoration of democracy. Hosting offcials from this illegal regime in NZ is inexplicable, and risks giving the junta a legitimacy they don't deserve. Has NZ's policy changed?
