No matter the disagreement on how our country should be run and necessary or desirable changes in our governance models and constitutional structures, there is no excuse for insurrection, mutiny, sedition or treasonable actions. Activism, advocacy and politics require patriotism.

I completely denounce any challenge to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nigeria, by anyone from anywhere; and I pledge to Nigeria my country to be faithful, loyal and honest, to serve Nigeria with all my strength, to defend her unity, and uphold her honour and glory.

Fellow Nigerians, let's target global Top 3. We are destined for number 4 by default. If we work hard and play smart, we will be in #3 in my lifetime. Let us grow a great society by doing simple things right. Let's build people and institutions to kick out poverty and insecurity!

However much we stand with the people, progress comes only when the people choose to stand on their own side. Of course, the best place to stand is on the side of the truth whether or not the people are ready. Happy Eid al-Fitr to all our Muslim Brothers!

We owe these heroes a functional Republic of law and order; and a citizenry that appreciates our gallant and patriotic men and women in uniform and armed forces that use its might to protect the people against enemies foreign and domestic. The Armed Forces come from the people.

We have a duty to protect our troops. The law supports that. The duty the Army has is to use lawful means, including reasonable and proportionate force. It is after the perpetrators have been caught that the Army can hand them over to the civil authorities, if they are civilians.

It is with the deepest grief that I received news of the unbelievable tragedy of the ambush and killings of officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army by outlaws in warring communities of Delta State. This is an affront against the Republic that calls for prompt justice by law.

I wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters in Nigeria and worldwide Ramadan Kareem and pray that Almighty Allah SWT accepts sincere acts of Ibadah of the Ummah. I pray that through the pangs of Ramadan, our leaders be moved to remember to show mercy on the common people. Ameen 🙏
