Politics & politicians again exposing the tribalism & self interest that relentlessly stifles progress towards the challenges that matter to the majority of Scots, laying bare the dearth of real leaders. They do not inspire trust, aspiration or hope.

We often ask others to go to their external enemies with compassion, yet very few are asked to go inward and show their own internal enemies compassion.

Compassion starts with the self!

When, not if, a service triggers a trauma survivor, the strategy should not be - 'How do we prevent us triggering people.' Rupture is inevitable. We should be able to help people investigate the trauma beneath a trigger and support them to neutralize their reaction to it.

It’s hard to self reflect when you’re shaming and disgracing people. It’s just not the way to do ‘relationship’. You actually trigger pride, as it comes from pride, people just get defensive, shut down or angry.
