The larger discourse of the protests is that people--all people--deserve the right to safety. In their homes, on their streets, at their jobs and schools. As many Jewish participants in the ceasefire movement have said, the safety and autonomy of Jews in Israel is…

1- I said I get it. Twice. I also said I, too, am enraged.

2- Your point doesn’t negate mine. There are multiple truths. And/Both, not Either/Or.

3- Your use of “deserve”, “workers”, “place of work” tells a lot. I’m too tired to engage. And, it makes my original point.

As a Jew, I keep thinking that this horror is the evilest possible legacy of the Holocaust, that it could warp history in such a way that the descendants of those they tried to exterminate would themselves commit genocide. It’s so perverse it takes your breath away.

I get the outrage. I’m enraged. But there’s nothing special about professors. Brutalizing anyone —a department chair, a 5y/o in Gaza, a protesting student, a houseless person— should be met with the same response, the same shock, pain, and anger. These lives are of equal value.

She was charged with battery for asking the police “What are you doing?” as they were violently arresting a student.

Police brutality. Police. Always at forefront of upholding oppression & punishing resistance. Always.

But as I’ve written before, police brutality, tho more visibly disturbing, isn’t distinct from the violence & brutality of other systems & institutions, including universities.

We endure all kinds of threats b/c of our visibility as lesbians.We also give “voice and face and body to our existence as women who love and desire and are dedicated to other women.” This is resistance.Thank you, ⁦Victoria Brownworth⁩💕
