Calling for an offshore grid. Better for consumers, countryside & communities than 180km of pylons cutting through East Anglia. https://t.co/feEAxmPG6F

Quite. What we all knew. Why has it taken them this long? Why so long to present the offshore details if, as they say, it had been considered as an option. NG is choosing to interpret planning rules to suit its choice of pylons vs offshore.

Better make sure it is the RIGHT infrastructure - strategic offshore grid, not pylons: β€œI am committed to significantly reducing timelines for building new network infrastructure.” And do t remove important consultations and environmental rules

This looked like a very interesting conference for campaigners to go and learn more about the offshore wind industry, transmission and offshore grids. Until you look at the price and realise campaigners are unlikely to be there: Β£174-Β£1250 per ticket...

When I’m Prime Minister, we will set up GB Energy within the first year of a Labour government.

A new, publicly-owned generation company that will harness the power of Britain’s sun, wind, and waves to cut energy bills, making Britain a clean energy independent superpower.

It will need a proper offshore grid, though, not the current piecemeal/radial approach which is so harmful to coasts, communities & countryside AND more expensive for consumers

With this amount of renewable energy proposed, it's even more important that there is a strategic offshore grid NOW, built for current & future growth. Radial/piecemeal approach bad for consumers, coastlines, communities & countryside.

Public ownership of renewable power benefits other countries.
'It is time we correct that by creating a UK green energy generator: it would roll out clean power infrastructure faster, fairer, and more affordably than the status quo.'

Our press release about the mini budget - shows contempt for communities and the environment and is all about infrastructure at any cost.
